What does the placement test cover?
- Algebra Foundations — the core moves of early algebra a learner needs before Algebra 1, such as combining like terms, solving one-step equations, the distributive property, and reading a linear relationship. It does not try to cover everything in algebra.
Do we need an account?
- No. A learner can take the Readiness Check without signing in, and the parent report appears at the end. Creating a free parent account afterwards is what keeps that report with your household.
How long does it take?
- About ten minutes. The check is five fixed rounds, one per Algebra Foundations concept, each running from the first clue through to the score. It is meant to fit between dinner and homework, not to be an afternoon.
What does the report actually tell me?
- Which areas looked solid and which needed more practice, whether the learner was following steps or holding the underlying idea, and a recommended starting point — a deck and a difficulty band — to begin with.
How is this different from a worksheet?
- Each concept is shown in more than one representation — equations, graphs, tables, word problems, and worked steps — and the learner picks the matching card in every lane before naming the rule they found. A wrong pick gets feedback about that specific misconception rather than a generic "try again".
Is this a diagnosis or a grade-level certification?
- No. Provetree is practice and a game: not a school, not a diagnosis, and not grade-level certification. Treat the result as a starting point for the next few weeks of practice, not a verdict on your learner.
